For the 2016, 50th Anniversary of the Introduction of Decimal Currency issue, Special editions in Miniature Sheet format featuring the original-issue 'Paper' Australian Decimal Banknotes were released in a limited edition booklet. Charles Kingsford Smith was a trailblazing aviator who helped put Australian aviation on the global map in the early 20th century. In 1928, he famously completed the first trans-Pacific flight from the United States to Australia in his aircraft, the Southern Cross. His daring spirit and numerous record-breaking flights inspired a generation of pilots and established Australia as a leader in aviation. Of philatelic significance, the stamps are Perforated 13 1/2 x 14 whereas the regular-issue stamps measured Perf 14 1/2 x 14.
