2015 Long May She Reign - 1947 21st Birthday - Large Mini Sheet format

This delightful and completely relaxed photograph of Elizabeth, when she was still a princess, was taken in 1947 by the highly-acclaimed photographer, Dorothy Wilding. It was used for the design of the Australian stamp issued to celebrate her marriage to Prince Philip in 1947, which was also the year she turned 21. Dorothy Wilding's photographs of Elizabeth were also adapted for the British Queen Elizabeth Definitive stamps issued from 1952 through to 1971. Of philatelic note, the regular-issue of the stamp that is shown, was released in a joined Se-tenant strip 3 with two other stamps so the 'Individual Block 4' is unique.
