For the 2016, 50th Anniversary of the Introduction of Decimal Currency issue, Special editions in Miniature Sheet format featuring the original-issue 'Paper' Australian Decimal Banknotes were released in a limited edition booklet. The Decimal $1 Banknote portrayed Queen Elizabeth from 1966 to 1984 when, for economic reasons, it was replaced by the Dollar coin which has a life-span of at least 30 years versus the paper notes, about a year. The Queen reappeared on our banknotes when the first $5 Polymer (plastic) note was introduced in 1992. Of philatelic significance, the stamps are Perforated 13 1/2 x 14 whereas the regular-issue stamps measured Perf 14 1/2 x 14.
