2016 Decimal Currency 50th - Set of 5 Banknotes in Large Mini Sheets format

For the 2016, 50th Anniversary of the Introduction of Decimal Currency issue, Special editions in Miniature Sheet format featuring the five original-issue 'Paper' Australian Decimal Banknotes were released in a limited edition booklet. Featuring Queen Elizabeth and legendary Australian Pioneers, William Farrer, Caroline Chisholm, Francis Greenway and Sir Charles Kingsford Smith (see the other four images). The $1 and $2 paper banknotes prevailed until 1984 and 1988 respectively when for economic reasons they were replaced by coins; the $5, $10 and $20 notes till 1992, 1993 and 1994 when they were converted to Polymer (plastic) notes, for security reasons (forgery). Of philatelic significance, the stamps are Perforated 13 1/2 x 14 whereas the regular-issue stamp measured 14 1/2 x 14.
